Text: Hebrews 3:1-6

To be in the house is not to just be someone who comes to a building regularly, but to be someone who is one of God's people, in the family of God, one who is born again. We need to ask ourselves: Are we in the house of the Lord?

1) Jesus is greater (than Moses and any other) because he is over the house (builder of the house (see vs. 4)) This is in contrast to Moses who was a servant in the house.

Moses was a faithful Therapon in the House! Looking at the greek word used for servant we see that  "servant" -the word is not doulos but therapon.  Whereas doulos describes one in bondage as a slave or servant; therapon carries the meaning of a voluntary servant who acts because of affection or devotion.  Therapon emphasizes an office which was honorable and dignified.

As Wayne Barber puts it - “Therapon denotes the willing service rendered as well as the relationship between the one serving and the one he serves.?

2) Are You in the House?

 a) If so then you will stay the course of Confidence - The word confidence is a speaking term.  In other words, one who is in the house will continue to speak with confidence about Christ, especially during times of persecution!

b) You will stay the course of boasting - the word boast means to rejoice over a privilege or possession.

“But he who boasts is to boast in the Lord.?  II Corinthians 10:17

Final thoughts - The Builder (Jesus Christ) is building a Mansion for the Redeemed in Glory!
