Fully Assured of the Hope

Text: Hebrews 6:11-12a

Our love toward others will grow as our love for the Lord grows (vs. 10) As we come to verse 11 we see the heart of the author, "we desire" - He wants them to know the truth that Jesus Christ is the best and there is none more worthy. While the rest of the world has no real purpose we know that as believers we have a hope (vs.11).

We also see that we are to have diligence - extra ordinary  (pursuit) commitment. Example of an athlete in training. See also 2 Peter 1:1-10. In verse 10 we see the call for diligence. Back in Hebrews (vs.12) we see the enemy of diligence is sluggishness (vs.12).

Five ways to avoid sluggishness:

1. We need to bare fruit.
2. We need to depend on him - in prayer.
3. We await his return at any moment.
4. We need to meditate on him.
5. We need to share the gospel.
