The evangelical church of today needs to get back to the basics. Methodology has trumped theology, with gimmicks being emphasized over the gospel. Nothing new is needed except to get back to the basics.

Outline:
1) Return to the word of God (vs.2)

- It's our responsibility to take the word of God to the world

2) Committed to the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ (vs.3)

- There is no substitute - see also I Thessalonians 2
- We must be committed to the truth

3) The results - Upset the world (vs.6)
