Text: Hebrews 5:11 - 6:3 It's time to embrace Christianity it's time to grow up. This is what the author of Hebrews is talking about in this section of scripture. 1. The Author's Desire (5:11) - The author has gone from teaching to preaching. (Preaching is when one is challenged to act of the knowledge that one knows.) 2. The Author's Diagnosis - (5:12-14) they were immature, slow, sluggish. (see also 1 Cor. 3:1-4) They were still on a milk diet. The question is why were they not eating any meat? By this time they should have been teachers and having an impact on the lives of others. * Is maturity being reflected in our lives today? Why is the church of toady in trouble? Because it is not acting on the knowledge that it has. 3. A Lack of Discernment - (vs. 14) They lacked the practice and experience to gain proper discernment. (see also 2 Timothy 2:20-23) There are many out there who are false. *How do you know if you are stagnant? - Do you have a desire for the word of God?
- Do you long to obey the commands of God? |
