"Who's on First: 21st Century Spirituality "

Text: Hebrews 3:1-2 ; John 17:6-24

Jesus was the once and for all sacrifice for our sin and he is also our intercessor.  While some teach that Jesus needs help in his role as intercessor (examples include: Paula White and the Roman Catholic Church) we can see that this is false as we look at the scriptures.

What Does the Bible Say?
* The title “High Priest? highlights two aspects of the saving work of Jesus: His “once for all? sacrifice for sin, and His ongoing ministry of intercession for us!
* “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands…but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.? Hebrews 9:2
* “…Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.? Romans 8:34
* For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.? I Tim. 2:5


Jesus Ministry of Intercession:

Demonstrated in His High Priestly Prayer (see John Chapter 17)
 1. Safety of believers. (vs. 15)
 2. Sanctification of believers. (vs. 17,19)
 3. Spiritual Unity of believers. (vs. 21-23)
 4. Share in His glory. (vs. 24)

A Final Promise:
“He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.?   Hebrews 7:26
