Text: Mark 1:21-28

Who is our authority? Is Jesus? Is the Word of God? What is our response to authority?

* Continuing our study of the life of Christ we look at his teaching. What was the response of the people? They were astonished/overwhelmed or in today's language they were "blown away".  Why because Jesus was not dependent on the teachings of others.  This was a big difference from the teaching of the scribes that the people had been listening to up till this time.

* Jesus was confrontational because he did not avoid difficult subjects.

* Another example of a confrontational speaker was the Apostle Paul. See I Corinthians 5:1-13.

Next week we will look at he response of the spirit world to the teaching of Jesus.
