"Knowing God... Making God Known"

Text: Revelation 5

The goal in chapter 5 is to come to a greater appreciation of Jesus Christ.  This lesson will emphasize the scroll.  The chapter centers on the question presented by the strong angel in verse 2.  Who is worthy to open the scroll and to break its seals?

Text: Mark 1:35-45

I. The Humanity of Jesus - “in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up.”
     * Problem - “Many deceivers who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver, and the antichrist.”  II John 7
II. The Habits of Jesus - “went to a secluded place, and there He was praying.”
     * Prayer - “But He Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.” Luke 5:16
     * Preaching - “Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby so that I may preach there also.”
III. The Help of Jesus -“Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, I am willing be cleansed.  Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.”
     * Command - “be cleansed” by definition conveys the idea of a decisive act.  Meaning that the lepers healing was immediate, complete, and visible to all present.”
Whether Jesus was praying, preaching, or healing, lives were being touched.  Thank God for Jesus Christ, “the author and finisher of our faith.”

Missions Conference 2011 - Bob Ambrosius

Text: I Peter 2:11-12

Listen as Bob Ambrosius of New Tribes Mission brings us a message from God's Word about the Church and how it should live before the world.

I. Peter appeals to the heart (vs.11)

II. Abstain from sinful desires-

      * Christian liberty is not the freedom to do what we want but rather the freedom to be able to do that which we could never do before.

III. We are to live in a way that positively reflects on Christ.

IV. Why should we do this? So that the unbeliever will come to know God in such a way that they will glorify him.
