continuing from last week we continue our study of the parable of the sower.

3.  The soils represent the heart of the hearers and reveal that not all who hear will accept the message of the gospel.

     a. The first hearer is the hard heart.  The hard heart resists the word of God  and therefore Satan comes and snatches it away.

     b. The second hearer represents the shallow heart.  Since there is no depth, whatever is planted does not last because it has no root.

     c.  The third hearer pictures a hearer with a crammed heart.  This person receives the word but does not truly repent and the “weeds” from their life prove it.

     d.  The fourth hearer pictures the true believer.  This person evidences a changed life.  The Bible calls it “fruit”.
